UNDERGRADUATE
STUDENTS
Chemistry is uniquely fundamental to the study of all other basic sciences. Our faculty are engaged in cutting-edge research with real world impacts, and our students receive a hands-on education with opportunities to participate in ongoing research and conduct their own experiments.
Majors and Minors
Our programs encourage students to be scientists now by participating in undergraduate research and working with state-of-the-art equipment. Our graduates leave with the knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed as professionals and scholars.
First Year Students
Students engage with our department as majors and minors, but many undergraduate students will take chemistry courses as a part of their general education requirements, or as part of earning a degree in another program.
Summer Programs
The Department of Chemistry participates in the Governor’s School for the Sciences and Engineering (GSSE). A 4 week on-campus residential program, GSSE provides an opportunity for high school students to participate in advanced study, lab work, and research in an immersive college experience.
