Graduate Student Resources

Graduate students in the Department of Chemistry receive financial support in the form of a graduate assistantship. Students are appointed as either Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) or Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs). All graduate students serve as GTAs during the first year of their program. Assistantships include:

  • $30,000 in total annual compensation
  • Student health insurance
  • Tuition and fee waivers

Additional information regarding assistantships and Graduate School fellowships can be found in the Department of Chemistry Graduate Student Handbook.

Graduate students are also encouraged to participate in the Association of Chemistry Graduate Students (ACGS). The ACGS organizes events and activities that create opportunities for students to develop a sense of community and explore more of what Knoxville and the Department of Chemistry at UT have to offer.
