BSMMSC
The Biological and Small Molecule Mass Spectrometry Core (BSMMSC) houses eight mass spectrometers and multiple computer workstations for data analysis. The core provides project consultations as well as analytical services from sample preparation to data interpretation.
NMR
The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Facilities are equipped with five NMR spectrometers that are used for teaching, research and services. Four of the NMRs are Solution State instruments; one 300 MHz, two 500 MHz and one 600 MHz.
Polymer Characterization Lab
The Polymer Characterization Lab (PCL) is one of the premier academic laboratories in the world for researching novel properties of newly designed polymeric materials.
X-ray and ICP-OES
The X-Ray and ICP-OES Facilities are a full service and user facility. It features one powder X-ray diffractometer, one single crystal diffractometer, and one inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES) for use in research and teaching.
Electronics and Machine Shops
The support shops in the Department of Chemistry provide a variety of services to faculty, staff, and students within the department. The electronics shop is staffed with experienced technicians who maintain and repair research instruments, design and construct novel electronic devices, and perform computer support.
Glassblower
Our professional glassblower has over 35 years’ experience in fabricating and repairing scientific glass. Prior to joining the Department of Chemistry, Eddie (Bo) Bishop spent more than 20 years working for Wilmad-LabGlass where he began as an apprentice in 1984. Bishop leverages his skills and experience to create both traditional and custom items for UT researchers.
